We acknowledge and grieve the sad fact that many women and children (and men), live in fear of men.
We do acknowledge the unfortunate necessity of the ‘Say No to Domestic Violence’ message and in no way wish to downplay the tragedy of broken homes and people due to domestic violence.
We do not condone violence in the home in any form, be it verbal, psychological, emotional, financial or otherwise.
At the forefront of the Say Yes Initiative is the Say Yes to Family Peace message.
The ‘Say Yes Initiative’ (SYI) calls for more importance to be directed at positive messages and solutions.
SYI calls for a shift in focus, from violence to peace, from negative fear-based despair to one of hope and optimism. From shame and blame and the general denigration of men to acknowledging and encouraging the beauty and awesome creative potential of the healthy masculine.
We call on a shift from “All men are bastards” to recognising and celebrating the men who are keeping the peace, especially those who are doing their personal work to become the best possible versions of themselves.
SYI comes with an unwavering intention to show the utmost care, love and respect for all, women, girls, men and boys, and we strongly acknowledge everyone’s right to safety and *sovereignty, regardless of gender.
SYI is primarily focused on the well-being of men and boys because we believe that this naturally creates the conditions to support the well-being and safety of women and girls, and to foster peace in the home.
