Behind SYI is a group of men who have each in their own way, taken responsibility for their own part in the shadow of the unhealthy masculine. We have faced the consequences of our attitudes and actions, done our best to make amends where possible and set about employing whatever means possible to correct our behaviour, to become the best possible versions of ourselves. To become Peace-makers.

SYI encourages all men to own the mistakes of the past, and to take responsibility for each our own part in any disrespect, conflict or violence.  We urge all men to express their sorrow where it is sincere and appropriate, and to do our very best to change our attitudes and behaviours into ways that engender peace within ourselves, in our homes, and in the world.  We acknowledge that ending the war within and creating inner peace is a pre-requisite to creating harmony in the home, and peace in the world, in accordance with the old Chinese proverb:

If there is integrity in the heart, there will be beauty in the character,

If there is beauty in the character, there will be harmony in the home,

If there is harmony in the home, there will be order in the nation,

If there is order in the nation, there will be peace in the world.
