SYI recognises that our culture’s perceptions of men are generally not supportive of us being the best we can be.

The on-going and relentless shaming of men as a group in our popular culture, social media and mainstream media does not serve anyone.  And whether we are aware of it or not, we men carry that collective shame in our hearts.  That shame finds expression in depression, isolation, suicide, violence and addictions – all of which prolong the cycle of violence to self and other.  We aim to shift this negative image of men by demonstrating, or rather “illustrating” how wonderful and life-affirming the world can be when we men strive to be the very best version of ourselves, live from our true hearts, as well as from our heads.  We assert that any emasculation of men, any attempt to put men down collectively or individually does not support them to be at their best. This undermining of healthy masculinity is not for greater good of anyone: men, women, children or the planet.
